JONATHAN CHERRY: What gets you up in the morning?
BOBBY SCHEIDEMANN: Movie soundtracks that go off every morning around 6am. Right now it’s the Drive soundtrack and that coupled with a cup of coffee sure does the trick.
JC: Are there any emerging photographers inspiring you at the moment?
BS: I’m inspired by Daniel Shea and Jessica Eaton. Shea composes beautiful scenes and Eaton’s work blows me away on a visceral level. Also the photography scene in central Texas is filled with very dedicated and great artists that have been great to work alongside with.
JC: What is The Dew Sweeper project all about?
BS: The Dew Sweeper is a series where I re-examine golf and its culture. I am interested in documenting its visual appeal and location as a cultural artifact.
JC: What has the rest of 2011 got in store for you photographically?
BS: Graduation! I am very excited about obtaining my BFA and showing some pieces from a fairly new body of work. After graduation I will be laying groundwork on volume two of a publication I founded with some friends called Taste Test.
JC: What initially drew you to photography?
BS: Going to the movies and just being curious about how a camera actually worked back in high school. When I first got into photography it was a way for me to show my friends how I saw them and I liked editing together images to create some sort of narrative.
JC: Favourite tree?
BS: Pine trees are my favorite type but my favorite tree is from my previous neighbor’s lawn back in Houston, TX. As a kid I would climb it all the time and just sit up in the tree thinking and looking around. It was great. I’m also allergic to quite a few trees so I have this bizarre love/hate relationship with them.
